Today, we’re excited to announce findings from Dribbble’s Global Design Survey and equip you with the data you need to make informed decisions about your career growth in design—now and in the future.

More than 17,000 design professionals across the globe shared their insights about the design industry and where it’s heading.

What is the Global Design Survey? Dribbble’s Global Design Survey is one of the largest design surveys ever conducted. From January-February 2019, more than 17,000 design professionals completed a 50-question survey, providing us with data behind designer salaries, career trends, and what’s next for your design discipline. The goal? To collect essential information that would help us better serve our community and propel the design industry forward as a whole. Today, we’re thrilled to release our findings.


Before checking out the survey results in all of their glory, we’re sharing more insight into the data gathered, and what it all means for you. Here’s a brief overview of what to expect:

Designer demographics

Dig into the details of designer demographics both globally and in the United States. You’ll find data on the average age ranges of designers, education levels, employment status, and more. Who do you think is more likely to have children—global or US respondents?

Salary insights

Are you being paid what you’re worth? Learn which design specialty gets paid the most and where—from which state leads the US with the highest-paid designers on average, to which design discipline leads the pack with the highest average yearly salary. Find out how your design salary compares.

Skill-building

What skills can help grow your design career? Designers named the most important skills they want to learn in the next 2-3 years to advance their careers. Also, learn how designers in different disciplines primarily learned design.
